Silver Scurf-Pea - Botanical Hardcover Journal — Created from Herbarium Plates
This journal is a part of a series of botanical paintings that features plants that were discovered on the Lewis and Clark Expedition. Each plant was researched and painted from herbarium plates. From these dried plants, Dorothia created accurate watercolor paintings. Through observation, sketches, pencil and brush, patience and expertise, they were created. The finished journal designs contain the scientific as well as the common name for each plant. The place that they were discovered are included for those who love history and science. The matte laminated cover and full wraparound print keep the artwork vivid yet soft to the touch, while the sewn casewrap binding lets the book open flat for sketching, lists, or secret notes.
